This intensive 3-day course includes information on the GSTCouncil, a review of global trends in sustainable tourism, the GSTCriteria Hotels and Tour Operators, GSTCriteria Destinations and an overview of the recognition, approval, accreditation of sustainable tourism certification. Training includes a case study scenario, a syndicate session and a field trip.  A course manual and extensive notes are provided.

“Promoting the widespread adoption of global sustainable tourism standards to ensure the tourism industry continues to drive conservation and poverty alleviation”

Who should attend?

The course targets tourism and environmental professionals seeking awareness of global best practice in practical and achievable sustainable tourism. Hotel managers, destination planners and managers, protected area managers, architects, travel agents, academic and educators, developers, policy makers and regulators and tour operators, tourism certification and accreditation bodies, auditors will all benefit from the course.


Each participant who attends and demonstrates their awareness of sustainable tourism will receive a Certificate of Sustainable Tourism Awareness.

When and where is the training?

Option A: Cape Town: 1-3 April 2016 (before WTM Africa)
Option B: Durban: 4-6 May 2016 (before Indaba)
